Some business owners may wonder: Is using emojis in social media posts a good idea? Will it take away from your business’s professionalism? Let’s discuss.

Emojis have become widely used when it comes to communicating. While most of the time people use them to text their loved ones, they are also used on social media. However, some businesses do not use them because they may not want to appear less professional. While emojis are not really known as a professional tool, companies can definitely benefit from their use on social media, and here are some reasons why:

  • Many individuals in the market nowadays are very visual when it comes to ads or even learning. If something does not look appealing, it can turn people off and they will lose interest. Social media posts with a lot of words may make people less interested and can be an eyesore depending on which platform they are posted on. Emojis can help in this case because they make the post more visual. Seeing an image will grab people’s attention and increase their chances of engagement with the post.
  • Using emojis can also make your posts more relatable. Some social media posts seem robotic, and many people can not establish a connection with the post if they do not relate to it. Using emojis can solve this issue because a large amount of people use emojis when they text. The use of emojis can make the post seem less robotic and can add some human connection. People will not feel like the post was strategically planned and this can increase a company’s value in their eyes.
  • The reason why emojis can aid in creating a human connection is because many people use them on a daily basis. All around the world emojis are used to communicate emotions and feelings. It is important to understand that as times change and technology changes, companies need to adapt. The widespread use of emojis makes it easy for businesses to  use them because most of the time people give emojis the same meaning. This universal meaning makes it easier to communicate with images, and can allow for a more creative post.
  • You can use emojis on your posts, but be wary of not using too many. It is important that your posts are accessible to everyone. Some people have disabilities that cause them to use dictation software which does not properly translate emojis. One emoji is fine, but using more than three makes things a lot more complicated. Remember to make posts accessible to everyone.
